
simplicity. this photo is just very simple, because it does not have a complicated background to steal your attention. its just a kid, doll, and a american flag.

framing. this is framing because the man is being framed by all the boxes and the man being the center of intrest and the boxes being the object surrounding him(as a frame).

lines. as you see the flag, and look at the strips. it will lead you to the people on the roof. this is the compisition called lines
rule of thirds. the rule is that the photo is divided into three's. and what ever is on the lines that divids it. comes out to be noticed first because your scaning the photo and this does that very well. why? because the man in the photo is right in a intercection of the bottom third and the left third
balance. the rule of balance is basicly getting objects to make shapes
this does that by the flag making a triangle with the pole.

avoiding mergers. this does that good because it allows space bordering all three people and not cuting them in half. but even though they are it is all at the same spot. so the photographer must of knew what he wanted in the picture and what he did not want.
